Good Times at the Oklahoma City TEA Party

Greetings Everyone, just getting home and wanted to post some pictures from the TEA Party. It was crowded. We had to walk about a mile to get there, we were late, but still got to soak it all in.

A police officer said they estimated the crowd at around 3,000, but more people were still streaming in, so I think it went to around 3,500-4,000 easily. Who knows for sure, I’m not going to get hung up on numbers. Let’s just say it was a lot of people.

They were good wholesome folks there, like you would find in any town in America. Lots of veterans, business types, moms and children, and an occasional ne’r do well like me. :)

The speeches were ok, nothing great, but I enjoyed the grassroots feel, as opposed to some polished politicians. The crowd chanted “Vote Them All Out!” several times, it was the running theme. Best sign, “God only takes 10%” (didn’t get a picture of it, my wife saw it). Second best, “Congress is Constitutionally Illiterate” (I would add so are the executive and judicial branches).

The ending was a Top Ten list of things we can do as citizens. After each item, the crowd would shout, “Yes, We Can!” mimicking Obama’s mantra from the campaign. If this can take hold across the country, we really CAN make some significant changes and hopefully fight back this wave of socialism from spreading any further.

An elderly veteran of the 1st Infantry Division told me he hoped all of the folks there would fill the breach and actually have each others backs. “If we can do that,” he said. “We can get back the country I fought for.”

Fill the breach folks! Get each other’s backs! Take back our country from those that hate it!

Here are the pictures:

100_1023 Our liberal Democrat Governor and Lt. Governor Couldn’t make it for some reason

100_1026 Sign reads, President Obama – 79% of America IS a Christian Nation (I’m sure Homeland Security is checking this guy out)

100_1027 A speaker in a nice American Flag shirt. Wow, he wasn’t burning the flag. In fact, no one castigated our Country, everyone spoke of their love for the Country. At a liberal protest, I wonder if you hear much of that. Not so much, I’m thinking.

100_1029 We were on the far west side of things, this was a crowd shot from our side of probably no more than 10% of the crowd.

100_1031 Nothing to do with the protest, just wanted to show our Capitol Building. Indulge me.

100_1033 More of the crowd. Notice the sinister looks of the unruly mobs! Oh wait, this was a protest by the adults of the Country, not the liberal children. Carry On.

100_1035 I just loved this picture. This elderly gent is helping his grandson fix his Uncle Same hat, as he holds his American Flag lovingly. I wish I would have gotten the grandson in the picture, but maybe it’s for the best. Homeland Security would be after the kid if they had a picture of him.

100_1036 Flags! The speech-ifying was happening up on those steps. The yellow flags were “Don’t Tread on Me” ones.

100_1037 Saw several versions of this sign being carried by youngsters from 7-8 year old range, up to college age. They were all homemade and different, not like Obama rally “homemade” signs that were made by a sign company and passed out at his rallies.

100_1040 This was a mother and her children holding signs. She was very vocal about the fact that this is a Republic and not a Democracy. Every time a speaker said something about our Democracy, she would shout it isn’t one. Good for her!

100_1046 A gent dressed as Thomas Jefferson with his quote, “A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have”. The ladies sign is more blunt, “Pay Your Own Bills”.

100_1048 Tea Party shirts were everywhere, but this one was a nice one. Note the Army veteran behind her. There were veterans wearing their hats everywhere. It always amazes me how those that have served our Country get it.

100_1050a Sign, “Don’t spread my wealth, spread my work ethic”

100_1050b Sign, “Who voted to spend YOUR MONEY on the $700,000,000,000 Bailout? WE DID, Tom Coburn, Tom Cole, Mary Fallin, Dan Boren, John Sullivan” (I’m deeply disappointed in Tom Coburn over this). This proves that this was not just a Republican Rally though. Both sides are held in equal disgust right now.

100_1050c Sign, “Obama’s Tax Laws Enslave Everyone”, and a “Don’t Tread on Me” Flag.

100_1051 Finally as we were leaving we saw these signs held up by a mom and her children. They say, from left to right, “Debtor $60T.”, “Time to Flip This House”, “Bankrupt 2010 AD”, and “Stop The Spending”.

Once more it was great fun, and a very important civic lesson. Hope you enjoy the pictures. If you have any comments, or questions let me know.

Cheers!
